Since the recent arrival of winter driving conditions, we've noticed an uptick in the number of dispatches to motor vehicle accidents.  So far this winter driving season, the accidents in our response area haven't resulted in serious injury or death. The only way things can stay this way is for drivers to slow down and adjust to road and weather conditions.

According to Statistics Canada, there were 44192 accidental deaths in Canada from 2000 through 2004, and 32% of those fatalities resulted from motor vehicle accidents!  In 2004, 62% of motor vehicle collisions resulting in a fatality occurred in rural areas!

Please slow down as conditions warrant, allow extra car lengths between you and the vehicle ahead, turn on your headlights so that other drivers can see you more easily, think ahead and give yourself plenty of room for stops and turns, and

Please Don't Drink and Drive!
